Skyla Lauch

Miss Galaxy Australia

Skyla is a proud Aboriginal woman whose people are from the Gunditjmara Kirrae Wurrung Bundjalung tribes. Her culture and heritage have always been important aspects of her life, being a very active member in her community since an early age. After high school, Skyla completed a degree in Exercise and Sports Science, however felt that her life purpose lay elsewhere. In 2022 she began working as a cultural educator where she goes into schools to teach about her Aboriginal culture, facilitates community events/workshops and mentors Indigenous youth. It is here that she found her calling.

Skyla hopes to one day be able to combine her knowledge from her Sports Science degree and her love for helping her community by going into remote Aboriginal communities and educating them on the importance of proper nutrition and physical exercise in order to live a healthy life. In doing this, she hopes to play a small part in reducing the life expectancy gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in our country.

Skyla is also passionate about sports. She was a Nationally ranked sprinter for majority of her life and loved participating in any sport she could. She also loves fashion and works part time as a model. But above everything, her favourite thing to do is spend time with the people she loves.

Skyla first competed in Australia Galaxy Pageants in 2022, which was her first ever pageant. She fell in love with the sisterhood and sense of belonging that the Galaxy system provided and couldn’t wait to come back the following year, where her dreams came true as she was crowned Miss Galaxy Australia 2023.

She hopes that with her new title, she will be able to show other Indigenous youth that they are capable of anything and that no dream is too big. Because if she can be Miss Galaxy Australia, then they can be anything!
